105th Anniversary of the Easter Rising

On this the 105th anniversary of the Easter Rising, the 0161 Festival collective extends greetings to our support network at home and abroad. It’s appears fitting that the people remain committed  followers of the ideals expressed in the Proclamation of the Irish Republic in 1916, and through the actions of the people strive to achieve a 32  county socialist republic.

We extend our solidarity to imprisoned comrades  and their families, imprisonment at the hands of  collaborators is a time of great hardship. However,  political prisoners have been the vanguard of the struggle against capitalist governments. Our political prisoners continue to inspire and energise the anti capitalist base, we salute them all.

Easter is a time when we remember and pay tribute to all those who fought, died and assisted in the fight for Irish Freedom. We do so with dignity and pride, in tribute to the sacrifice of those who refused to accept British rule in Ireland.

Revolutionary actions have played a part by rebuilding, a sustainable revolutionary campaign. These endeavours are proving successful as recent revolutionary actions have  demonstrated.

The people derive their mandate from Britain’s denial of the right of Irish people to

national self-determination . We only need to consider the wording of the Easter Declaration to see at its core lay socialist values for all its people.

“The Republic guarantees religious and civil liberty, equal rights and equal opportunities to all its citizens, and declares its resolve to pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation and of all its parts, cherishing all of the children of the nation equally”  (Source Irish Proclamation 1916)

The people remain fully committed to advancing genuine Irish Republican  socialist objectives, and where Britain denies the Irish people the right to live free from foreign and undemocratic interference, the people will develop an organised campaign of resistance. A failure to do so would be an abandonment of Irish Republican socialist principles.
