Some media are reporting that some Police and Crime Commissioners are stating police officers will enter homes and separate households if necessary.
This is a scandalous threat that has no basis in the COVID Regulations tiers 1, 2 and 3.
The police have no power of entry under the Tier 1, 2 or 3 COVID Regulations to enter homes. They would have to be invited into homes to exercise their power to disperse gatherings or have a warrant.
The long established law make clear that If Parliament had intended there to be a power of entry they would have provided for one.
