“Storm Dennis? Completed it mate.
Despite howling wind and torrential rain across both days, around 30 people joined our walking tours this weekend. From the former plague pit of Aldgate to Altab Ali Park, from the Victorian ‘toshers’ combing the sewers for trinkets to the working class forcing open the East End tubes as shelter in the Blitz.
We learned of the waves of Ashkenazi Jewish migration, the heroes of Cable Street and the Stepney Tenants Defence League, the East End has it all, and we remembered its stories in those streets (and at the pub).
We will run this tour again soon, along with other areas of London so follow the page for updates!”
