Unknown Era – “A State of Affairs” Review

The reggae/ska/hiphop/punk mash up from Nottingham have just practised for the first time in 3 months and they are raring to go and with a new album to boot, here’s what we thought of it!

Do you ever listen to a new album without much thinking then within 3 songs you hope it never ends?

Well thats this album! It’s ska hooks and soul melting vocals are perfection then with a punch its fast paced ska punk at its best! The brass section and guitar are up there with the Specials Ghost town in places! Which for me is high praise indeed!

Political intelligent socially aware lyrics this baby hits all the buttons! After 40 years in punk rock i’ve become a cynical old bastard but this L.P. has put my faith back in protest music, sung and played from the heart. I could start trying to pick out the best tracks but that’s impossible because there are no weak tracks on it.

We have been lucky enough to have these guys play 0161 festival and they are equally as brilliant live check ’em out when you can . If you wanna hear an absolute stonker of an album this is it!
